The Chevy Silverado is the next generation of Chevy's best-selling trucks. For the first time, the mid-size cab choice comes with a center side pillar and four conventionally opening doors. This generally improves rollover crash performance, makes a quieter, less squeak-prone interior, and is easier to load in tight quarters. A full-size pickup is nothing if not big, tough, and assertive. The new Silverado takes that theme to the extreme with blockier styling cues, straighter lines, and sharper edges.
The 5.3-liter V8 is rated at 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. All Silverados come with a 6-speed automatic transmission, 16 mpg city, and 22 mpg highway. Front impact airbags for the driver and passenger have been designed to protect the head during a frontal crash, side impact airbags for the front seats have been designed to protect the torso during a side impact collision, overhead airbags are used to protect the occupant's heads in the event of a side collision or rollover, seatbelt pretensioners automatically tighten seatbelts to place the occupant in the optimal seating position during a collision. The vehicle is equipped with an ignition disable device that will prevent the engine from starting if the correct original manufacturer key is not used. It seems like there are as many USB ports as there are cupholders in this rig. Flip up one panel in the large center bin, and you’ll find three USB power points. Open up the center console, and you’ll find two more. This is a great feature for its ability to power multiple phones and music devices. Dual power seats with high/low heated interior. Simply press a button in the center console, and it crawls the Silverado at a slow, controlled pace, modulating brake and throttle without the driver having to put his or her foot on the pedals. The Silverado has StabiliTrack stability control to keep you on the road in those emergency maneuver situations. For towing a large load safely, the Trailer Sway Control helps control braking coming into a turn and adding power coming out of a turn with a trailer. Drop in bed liner, 6.5-foot bed length, the tailgate boasts an internal torsion bar and rotary damper that make opening and closing the unit less click, slam, bang, and more click whoosh whiff. Fog lights, front tow hooks, chrome nerf bars, rear bumper with a step in each corner, and a corresponding handhold in the side rail for easier bed entry. Tow ratings are up too, 11,500 pds. Factory remote start with keyless entry with lock/alarm, vent visors, tinted windows, alloy wheels with plenty of tread.
